But the worst thing so far is the driver is really bad. Not only did we get stuck in Plovdiv down some random streets he hit a bump at high speed and everyone went flying. Really bad situation as there are a lot of old people here, you would not imagine…really..this was bad. I hit my head on the roof …my neck and back hurt…fucking sucks..fuck. Lots of people hurting on the bus, a weirdly bizarre and terrible situation…..

But my Soviet era hotel was actually extremely comfortable. The bed was perfect and the shower super hot and showery. I have zero qualms.

Missed the bus. Zero hotels….except this one which is still 40 Euros and probably has larvae.

Every plane was late, every connection screwed up, arrived an hour late…watched the bus leave….plus had to take a metro transfer (but that was fast). If I had an extra 15 minutes everything would have worked out ..

Train station is closed…yes, completely closed so no sleeper to Burgas.

Early am bus to Sunny already booked so I can’t leave till 11am…a day completely lost.

If I can catch the sleeper train or even bus I would be extatic…..delays everywhere and I bet I’ll miss everything by less than 15 minutes.

Or I’ll be lucky.

The clash of cultures between here and the modern word remains staggeringly wide.

Update…it was only about 1 hour and 15 minutes…so, not tooooo bad.

Relaxing by the canals with herring and meats and serious pretty people watching.

They all bloody expensive and I really wanted to enjoy a hostel experience one more time.

I rented a “sleeping pod” downtown and slept in a mixed dorm full of super fun party people. If you want to make friends and have things to do and converse and do dumb things, this is the only way to go. My place was spotless, I slept like a lizard (the beds are soft like air and once you turn your little night light off, it’s pitch black, slept better than ever).

The cleaning husband and wife team from Veliko Tarnovo just added to the whole aura of faithfulness.
